currently coherent

right now i'm icing my neck down with a ziploc snack bag of frozen peas so excuse any typos. i'm recovering from a tonsilectomy i had on monday. i was supposed to get a week at home to rest up and get back on my feet but joy and isaac both decided to get sick wednesday so amy has been home taking care of all 3 of us. i grab bits of sleep here and there but after two hours of open mouth breathing and no icing/watering of the throat and the pain usually drags me away from my drug induced dementia. we'll live.

we went to CO last weekend for our adoption agency's Christmas party. so great to see all but two of the girls from our travel group! i wish we had had another 10 hours to hang out with everyone. we did get to have lunch with chris, tonya, and mei yuan on Sunday. i came back re-enamored with my daughter and my family in general.

updates: joy is walking pretty well now. has 6 teeth. is just at 30lbs and a little over 30in tall (kind of implies a ball, doesn't it?). she's starting to say some words that i think always refer to the same thing: da da. iya (isaac). ma ma. doh (can mean door, dog, that, a grunt, or a homer impersonation).

isaac is doing well (other than being sick). he's quite the big boy and is even learning not to tackle his sister. in CO he ran away from amy in a store. amy found him clutching a mannequin telling all who came by - this is my mommy. back in the van i tried to sternly tell him that wasn't safe. in his 3 year old speech impediment he says - are you kidden me? and after we had a good laugh about that i tried again so he says - are you bweakin' my hawrt?

that's life here in a brief nutshell. in a desperate attempt to get some time alone and skip out on work i go and have my tonsils hacked out only to have the whole family follow me home.
