a night in the life

i'm sitting in the mostly constructed playground set i've been working on (with help) for the last three days. i'm in the second floor club house as i type. i think i can get my wireless signal from here but my neighbor's has better signal strength . . . i'll give you pictures of the project eventually. still have the roof and the major accessories to go - like the swings and the rope for the climbing wall. i wonder if i can get cable out here? nah, i have wireless. a mini-fridge would make more sense. what's that? oh, yeah, i suppose i should leave room for the kids to play on this thing, too.

today was baby joy's first birthday. i missed the party because i was in the back yard wrestling the play ground beast. it helps if you do things right the first time but for me it takes at least twice if not more. i'm sure bob villa would have busted this sucker out in 15 or 20 minutes but i'll just be glad if we can stamp the "finished" sticker on it before joy's next birthday. but it's nice outside, if not too windy and i'm just enjoying a bit of peace.

joy is becoming more and more "natural" here in the middle of kansas. the routine is pretty consistent. the faces are fairly normal and i think she's decided this place will make a decent home after all. she's crawling like a pro. napping on her own a bit more and sleeping through the night pretty solidly. she laughs more. she smiles more. her hair is getting longer. her brother still tries to smother her when our back our turned but i really do think he just loves to love on his sister a bit too much. it's a good night.

tonight we accidentally had a glass of water dump on our laptop. but, i'm typing on it now. takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

tomorrow is rash hashana. we're going to get together and celebrate it with some of the folks from our house church tomorrow night. i don't remember right now which feast this is to celebrate but i love learning. we celebrated it last year but a lot has happened between now and then so the details are foggy. amy is making the bread. i'll post more details later. time to shut down for the night.
