Germanic Peoples of the Western United States Regional Spring Poetry Festival
Here is the pregame interview with the two combatants.
Overall the competition went well - if you don't mind some "minor" rules infractions . . . Go here (first place) and here (second place) to see what both winners had to say. I had to feel pretty good because I was with both winners. Until I heard how they won.

haa it doesn't matter how you play the game, only if you win, right?
that's incredible. you should be their agent. did they give any sort of compensation for just being there? maybe that first place winner guy will write you a poem.
at the behest of this "Arthur Dent" character I have written a poem for Jake:
Sunshine on Saturn
Rabbits eating grass,
leaves of autumn leave
death decaying,
rot beneath a dying tree
yet sun shines on saturn
where bunnies romp
abandoned not
you my thank me now . . .
luv Clay
Wow, thanks, Clay. I'm touched. (I actually do appreciate it!)
It is further evidence that all poetry is about death, dying, sex, and blood - or some combination thereof.
